The Full Story

Meet Blue Bird
Blue Bird is a Portland-based interior design studio founded by Alesha, an NCIDQ-certified interior designer with more than seven years of commercial design experience and more than five years of residential design experience. Her work spans workplace and hospitality interiors, residential renovations, material and finish selections, and practical design guidance for homeowners completing projects themselves.
The Blue Bird Story
Blue Bird grew from the belief that thoughtful design should feel both inspiring and approachable. A well-designed space is not simply about how it looks—it should support the people who live, work, and gather there. It should respond to everyday needs, simplify decisions, and create a meaningful connection between people and place.
After years of working across commercial and residential projects, Alesha saw an opportunity to bring the same level of design thinking used on larger professional projects to homeowners and small businesses. Blue Bird was created to offer flexible access to that expertise, whether a client needs focused help with one decision, a cohesive plan for a room, or comprehensive support for a larger transformation.
Experience with Purpose
Alesha’s commercial experience brings a strong understanding of programming, space planning, material performance, coordination, and the many details required to move a project from an early idea to a cohesive interior. Her residential work adds a personal understanding of how homes need to function in real life—and how overwhelming design decisions can become when homeowners are managing a renovation or DIY project themselves.
Together, these perspectives shape an approach that is creative, practical, and grounded in each project’s unique needs. Commercial spaces benefit from warmth and individuality, while residential spaces benefit from the strategy, organization, and long-term thinking found in professional design practice.
The Blue Bird Philosophy
At Blue Bird, beautiful design begins with intention. Every decision should have a reason—supporting how a space functions, how it feels, and how it will be used over time. Design is not about following every trend or spending more than necessary. It is about identifying what matters, investing where it counts, and creating a clear, cohesive direction.
That philosophy applies whether the project is a workplace, hospitality environment, full-home renovation, single-room update, or DIY project. Each service is tailored to the scope of the work and the level of support needed, giving clients access to professional guidance without forcing every project into the same process.
A personal Approach
As a one-person studio, Blue Bird offers a direct and collaborative experience. Clients work with Alesha throughout the process, creating continuity from the first conversation through the final design decisions. The goal is not to impose a signature look, but to listen carefully, bring clarity to the possibilities, and shape a space that feels purposeful, personal, and distinctly connected to the people who use it.
